Bim Narine is a Casting Director based out of Vancouver and has been working in casting for over 10 years. In that time, he has cast hundreds of commercials, and dozens of television series, films, reality programming, music videos, and short films. Originally from Guyana, and raised in Edmonton, Bim has been pursuing or working in the film industry for nearly half his life. After finishing a Media Arts diploma and a Communications Degree in Alberta, Vancouver was the next step in pursuing a career in film industry. After a few years of assisting with almost every Casting Director in town, Bim partnered up with another local casting director and has been casting a diverse range of projects ever since. By developing a process that is inclusive, efficient, and effective, Bim continues to evolve and grow, getting the best out of every actor, and working to find the best and most diverse cast possible for every project.
Manu Chopra grew up in Juhu, Bombay the heart of Bollywood, dreaming of a movie career in North America. In the 1990’s he worked as head writer for Channel [V], an iconic music channel that popularized “Hinglish” street-speak and was proclaimed by Time Magazine as the hottest media idea to come out of Asia in the decade. Arriving in Vancouver, he found work at first at a radio station, and then writing ads at Cossette, Canada’s largest advertising agency. On the basis of a spec script that made its way to Ajay Virmani, producer of Deepa Mehta’s Oscar-nominated Water, he was hired to write Dr. Cabbie, based on an idea by actor Vinay Virmani (Breakaway). Dr. Cabbie – produced in Toronto by Ajay Virmani and Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. Dr. Cabbie was released in September 2014 and that week, became the second highest grossing film in Canada.
